A family in our community recently hit a very stressful roadblock when their mother was hospitalized. As her release date approached, they faced a daunting reality: she was coming home in a wheelchair, and because of the way their house was built, she wouldn't even be able to get through the front door.
In the middle of trying to navigate her medical recovery, they were stuck wondering how they were going to physically get her inside. That is when someone in the community told them about Christians in Action.
Knowing that a hospital discharge deadline leaves no time to waste, our team immediately stepped in and built a wheelchair ramp leading right up to the front porch, ensuring she could safely enter her home the moment she was released.
The physical ramp was only part of the story. The connection our team made with the family during the build was incredibly encouraging. Getting to support the homeowner was wonderful, but being able to build genuine relationships with her kids and extended family was the real blessing.
Expanding the love of Christ beyond just the person who called us, and wrapping our arms around their entire family, is exactly what Christians in Action is all about. What started as a stressful medical emergency turned into a beautiful reminder that this community shows up when it matters most.
