Clearing A Way

May 2026

Helping keep water where it is supposed to be.

When an elderly widow reached out to us recently, she was facing a couple of major home maintenance problems that she was physically unable to handle herself: roof repairs and a clogged underground drainage system. Water can be incredibly destructive, so keeping it out of the ceiling and flowing safely away from the foundation is absolutely vital to protecting a house.

Our team stepped in to tackle both issues, sealing up the roof and clearing out the buried lines to get the drainage system working correctly again. But while our hands were busy fixing the house, our favorite part of the day was getting to talk with her about life.

When we meet the people we serve, some open up more than others, but getting to learn from them is always one of the best parts of the job. Every single person has a unique story to tell. Getting to sit with her, hear her history, and intertwine our own stories with hers—while sharing the incredible impact Jesus has had on our lives—is so incredibly good.

By the time the tools were packed away, we hadn't just protected her home from water damage; we had built a true connection. Leaving her with a safe house and a reminded heart that she is loved and heard is exactly why we do what we do.
